OpenIMSCore in a VM
To ease your Open IMS Core experience we have made it so easy for you to own an NGN core network, that you don't even need to follow the short installation guide. Here, you will find ready-to-use Virtual Machine images of a full Linux operating system with all the necessary things to get you started. Just download the image, extract it and run it with your free player of choice from here: http://www.vmware.com/download/player/ .
The releases usually include:
- A full Linux Operating System, of course (here a Gentoo Linux distribution), with a Linux kernel configured to suit most of your needs (IPv6, IPSec, etc included)
- An OpenIMSCore - watch for the release number (r531 for example). This would start by default, after the VM boots-up, through a service-like model. Watch your tty7-11 for useful debug messages (P-CSCF on tty7, I-CSCF on tty8, S-CSCF on tty9, HSS on tty10, SIP traffic dump on tty11; accesible with ALT-F7/F11).
- The default couple, Alice&Bob, pre-configured in the HSS. The HSS webconsole is also accesible.
- A console-only view of the free OpenIC_lite pre-configured with the above users so that you can immediately make some tests.
Although the images were put on a diet for your download comfort, you will still need several free GiB of space on your computer to extract and run this.
In the future we are hopping to bring you more and more features through this packaging while also keeping it small and practical. If you discover bugs, or have any suggestions, or you would like to send some improvements, or you just enjoyed using it, please do not forget to provide us with feedback on our regular mailing lists (please do not add comments here or support requests as this page would just grow up uselessly).
By the way: we have experienced that the easier we make it for our users to use IMS, the more trivial questions we get.
